Sweater 101: “Learn Local” in Providence, Rhode Island

Have you wanted to learn a little more beyond the basics of knitting a sweater? I am offering a few small workshops in my home town of Providence each season to help local knitters develop their skills. I love sharing my 30 years + experience with you!

If you are interested in the local Providence workshops, please contact Deborah directly at deborahnewtonknits@gmail.com to be added to the mailing list.

To entice you, I ask you these questions:

  1. Would you like to know to personalize a knitting pattern, how to make creative choices? Would you like to feel like you are driving the project yourself, not just following directions?

  2. Would you like to understand more about how to make projects more suited to you and your sizing?

  3. Would you like to improve your finishing?

  4. Would you like to learn more about the history of the craft of knitting and how to adapt it to some simple projects?

  5. How about learning more about families of stitches—what makes them unique and how to understand how they are formed?

Sign up early—space is limited to 10 students in each class.

What past students have said about working with Deborah:

“I learned so much in such a short period of time. Deborah is very generous and shares her wealth of information and design tools to the students and you get to put them into practice. Since taking this course I have had two designs selected to be published in knitting magazines. This course gave me the confidence and the tools I needed to jump start my design career. I wish I would have taken this class years ago!"

"I've toyed with designing for several years, but didn't really know how to get started. So when the opportunity arose to study under & learn from Deborah Newton, I jumped at the chance. What a treat to be on the receiving end of all of Deborah's knowledge! We were provided all the tools & resources necessary to truly understand what being a knitwear designer is all about. The group size was small & there was plenty of one-on-one guidance from Deborah. I'm excited to say that because of this design workshop, I am about to release my first design on Ravelry."
